Cane is a small Lenca municipality in La Paz Department in the western highlands of Honduras. It sits between the administrative center of La Paz and the higher mountains toward Marcala and Intibucá. The population is mostly rural and works in corn, bean and coffee farming, complemented by traditional pottery and basketry. Lenca heritage is still visible in language traces, the calendar of festivals, popular healing practices and craft motifs. The town center consists of a tiny plaza, a parish church and a handful of streets lined with simple homes, workshops and shops. The surrounding landscape is dominated by pine forests, mountain trails and small streams. Cane is a good example of the quiet, highland-oriented way of life of many Lenca communities in La Paz.
