This impressive statue stands atop the summit of El Picacho mountain within the United Nations National Park, overlooking the entire metropolitan area. The colossus was erected in 1997 based on designs by the Honduran sculptor Mario Zamora Alcántara. The statue itself is approximately 20 meters high and stands on a massive concrete pedestal, bringing its total height to about 30 meters. It is constructed of reinforced concrete and covered with small white tiles that shine brightly in the sun. The site serves not only as a religious symbol but also as a popular gathering place for locals and tourists who come to enjoy the spectacular views and fresh air in the surrounding gardens. At night, the statue is illuminated, making it visible from almost every point in the city. The monument is part of a larger recreation area that also includes a zoo and walking trails.
