La Entrada is a major transport and commercial town in western Honduras and forms part of the municipality of Nueva Arcadia in Copán Department. Its strategic location at the crossroads of the highways linking San Pedro Sula with Santa Rosa de Copán, Copán Ruinas and the Guatemalan border has turned it into a fast-growing regional hub. Filling stations, transit restaurants, markets and small factories dominate the streetscape along the main road. The surrounding countryside is filled with coffee plantations, cornfields and cattle ranches whose produce passes through La Entrada on its way to larger markets. The El Puente archaeological park lies only a few kilometers away and is considered the second-most important Maya site in the region after Copán Ruinas. La Entrada shows how a rural town can gain regional weight thanks to geography, traffic flows and history.
