Corquín is a small mountain municipality in Copán Department in western Honduras, set within a region with a long coffee tradition. It lies in a hilly landscape of dense pine and oak forests, terraced coffee gardens and small streams. Economically Corquín relies on high-altitude specialty coffee, corn and bean farming, cattle ranching and a number of small forestry operations. The town core features the parish church, a central plaza and several shops and warehouses where coffee is stored. Connections to the departmental capital Santa Rosa de Copán and to surrounding Lenca villages drive market and school traffic. The population and daily life are strongly tied to Catholic festivals, cooperatives and a refined coffee culture. Corquín neatly illustrates the calm, coffee-driven lifestyle of the mountain communities of western Honduras.
