Miraflor Nature Reserve is located in the northern highlands of Nicaragua, approximately 30 kilometers from the city of Estelí, and covers an area of about 206 square kilometers. This protected area is unique for housing three distinct climatic zones: dry tropical forest, mountain cloud forest, and oak forest. The elevation ranges from 800 to 1,450 meters above sea level, providing good conditions for over 200 species of orchids and rare birds such as the Resplendent Quetzal. Miraflor is managed by local cooperatives that focus on sustainable ecotourism and organic farming, allowing visitors to explore diverse hiking trails while learning about rural life. Since its official designation as a nature reserve in 1990, it has become a vital destination for biodiversity conservation and community-based travel.
