Campamento is a town in Olancho Department in the eastern highlands of Honduras, set along the main highway between Tegucigalpa and Juticalpa. The municipality is traditionally known in the region for its forestry, timber processing and cattle ranching, complemented by corn and bean farming. The surrounding landscape consists of broad pine forests, low ridges and streams that define the typical Olancho scenery. The town center features a classic plaza, the parish church and a compact commercial strip where travelers, truck drivers and farmers meet. Campamento is also recognised for its weekly market, its patron-saint festival and the rural, cowboy-tinged way of life characteristic of Olancho. The town is a strong example of the tight connection between forest, livestock and transport that defines the department as a whole.
