Water temperature…
Cofradía is a fast-growing town in Cortés Department, west of San Pedro Sula in the fertile Sula Valley. Over recent decades it has shifted from a traditional banana and sugarcane village into an industrial suburb with many maquila assembly plants and packaging factories. Its economic dynamism is driven by closeness to San Pedro Sula, the international airport, the port of Puerto Cortés and the highways heading west. Cofradía therefore provides industrial jobs, while shopping zones, schools and new residential developments reflect a rapid urban transformation. The surrounding landscape still shows banana, oil-palm and sugarcane plantations that define the wider Sula Valley. Today Cofradía exemplifies the second-generation industrial towns of northern Honduras growing in the shadow of San Pedro Sula.
