Weather…

Laguna Lachuá is a nearly circular lake located in the northern Alta Verapaz department, tucked away in the heart of the national park that shares its name. Due to its great shape and crystal-clear, sulfurous water, it is often referred to as the "mirror of the sky." Geologically, the lake is a cenote-like formation created by the collapse of underground limestone caves, reaching a depth of over 220 meters. Surrounded by one of Guatemala's best-preserved tropical rainforests, the area provides habitat for an impressive variety of wildlife, including tapirs, jaguars, and over 300 bird species. The lake is known for its high mineral content, which gives it a slight sulfur smell and promotes the growth of specific algae species. Access to the lagoon is only possible via a multi-hour hike, which contributes to preserving its pristine beauty and tranquility.
