Point Fortin Port
Point Fortin Port is internationally recognized as the home of Atlantic LNG, one of the largest natural gas liquefaction facilities in the world. Located on the southwestern coast of Trinidad, it has transformed the town of Point Fortin from a historical oil center into a global energy hub. The facility commenced operations in 1999 and features four specialized processing lines (trains) that cool natural gas for export to markets in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. The port is equipped with highly specialized berths for massive LNG tankers, which load the liquid gas at extremely low temperatures. This facility is of vital importance to the economy of Trinidad and Tobago, generating a significant portion of the national export revenue. In addition to the LNG infrastructure, the port also includes facilities for handling crude oil. Point Fortin remains a symbol of the country's technological advancement in the energy sector and serves as a major employer in the southern region.
