Biomuseo (Panama)

Weather…

The Biomuseo, located on the Amador Causeway in Panama City, is the first building designed by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry in Latin America, officially opening its doors in October 2014. The striking structure is characterized by its asymmetrical design and animated, multi-colored metal roofs, which represent the biological diversity of Panama and the formation of the isthmus. The permanent exhibition, titled 'Panama: Bridge of Life', features eight galleries curated in collaboration with scientists from the Smithsonian Institution. These exhibits detail how the emergence of the Isthmus of Panama approximately 3 million years ago separated the oceans and fundamentally altered the global climate and biodiversity. The museum serves as a critical educational hub and an architectural landmark at the entrance of the Panama Canal. Its surrounding Botanical Garden, or Biodiversity Park, features native species that illustrate the country's unique ecological heritage.
