Dunn's River Falls (Jamaica)

Weather…

Dunn's River Falls near Ocho Rios is one of Jamaica's most celebrated natural wonders and one of the few waterfalls in the world that empty directly into the Caribbean Sea. The falls extend over approximately 180 meters and descend about 55 meters through a series of naturally terraced limestone steps. The water flows over travertine rock formations that are continuously regenerated by calcium carbonate deposits from the mountain spring water. A highlight for many visitors is climbing the falls in guided groups, often forming human chains to safely navigate the slippery limestone tiers. Historically, the site was the location of a significant battle in 1657 between Spanish and British forces for dominion over the island. Today, the surrounding park is a well-developed tourist attraction featuring beaches, tropical gardens, and picnic areas. The falls' spectacular appearance has made them a popular filming location, most notably featuring in the first James Bond film, "Dr. No," and the movie "Cocktail."
