The Old Presidential House in Tegucigalpa served as the official residence of the Presidents of Honduras from 1922 until 1992. Construction began in 1914 during the presidency of Francisco Bertrand and was completed in 1922 under Rafael López Gutiérrez. The building is renowned for its eclectic architectural style, blending Neo-Gothic, Neoclassical, and Victorian elements. It was constructed using local stone from nearby quarries and features fortress-like towers and elegant loggias. The interior contains lavish rooms such as the Blue Room and the Hall of Mirrors, decorated with period furniture and frescoes. Today, the building houses the National Archives and a museum dedicated to Honduran history, providing insights into the country's 20th-century political life. Located on the banks of the Choluteca River, it is a protected national monument and remains one of the capital's most striking architectural landmarks, reflecting the grandeur of past administrations.
