Torre del Reformador (Guatemala)

Weather…

The Torre del Reformador is a prominent steel structure located in Zone 9 of Guatemala City, serving as one of the capital's most recognizable industrial landmarks. It was erected in 1935 to honor the 100th anniversary of the birth of former President Justo Rufino Barrios, who was known as 'The Reformer' for his modernization efforts. Standing 75 meters tall, the tower's aesthetic is strikingly similar to the Eiffel Tower in Paris, reflecting the era's ambition to emulate European architectural styles. The entire structure is made of galvanized steel that was originally imported from the United States. At the top of the tower sits a bell, which was a donation from Belgium and is rung during significant national holidays. Originally called 'Torre de los 14 de Febrero' to mark Barrios' birth date, it is now a historical monument and a key navigational landmark for the city's residents, standing out with its nightly illumination.
