St. Pauli Landungsbrücken (Germany)

Weather…

The St. Pauli Landungsbrücken in Hamburg's St. Pauli district is a central transport hub and one of the most famous landmarks of the Hanseatic city. Originally established in 1839 as a landing stage for steamships, it primarily handled coal supplies and later became the main terminal for overseas passenger traffic. The current terminal buildings, characterized by their striking towers and green copper domes, were constructed between 1907 and 1909 using tuff stone and are now a protected architectural ensemble. The clock tower at the eastern end features a water level indicator that announces the Elbe's tides to mariners and visitors alike. Today, the Landungsbrücken serve as the starting point for harbor tours, HADAG ferries, and shuttle boats to the musical theaters across the river. Adjacent to the piers lies the entrance to the Old Elbe Tunnel, a 1911 engineering marvel leading to Steinwerder island. As the 'Gateway to the World,' this waterfront area represents Hamburg's maritime soul and attracts thousands of visitors daily.
