Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg (Germany)

Weather…

Miniatur Wunderland, located in Hamburg's historic Speicherstadt district, is the world's largest model railway exhibition and one of Germany's most popular tourist attractions. The project was founded in 2000 by brothers Gerrit and Frederik Braun along with Stephan Hertz, and it officially opened on August 16, 2001. Spanning a model area of over 1,600 square meters, it features various themed worlds, including replicas of Scandinavia, Austria, the USA, and Italy, as well as the fictional town of Knuffingen. A major technological highlight is the fully functional 'Knuffingen Airport,' where planes appear to take off and land autonomously. The layout includes more than 1,100 trains with over 10,000 wagons operating on approximately 16 kilometers of track. The meticulous attention to detail is evident in the more than 289,000 figures and the computer-controlled day-night simulation that cycles every 15 minutes. Since 2021, the 'Rio de Janeiro' section has been part of the ever-expanding range of themed areas.
