Bremerhaven Container Terminal (Germany)

Weather…

The Bremerhaven Container Terminal (CTB) is one of the world's largest contiguous transshipment facilities of its kind and forms the economic backbone of the maritime city. The Stromkaje quay, stretching over five kilometers along the Weser River, allows the world's largest container ships to be handled regardless of tidal conditions. Development began in 1971 with the commissioning of the first berth and was continuously expanded up to the CT IV terminal section. Today, the facility features 14 berths for large vessels and an annual capacity of over seven million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU). Beyond its logistical importance for global trade, the terminal serves as a vital hub for rail freight transport into the European hinterland. The automation of port technology and the use of modern straddle carriers characterize the terminal, which holds strategic relevance for the German export economy. In recent decades, billions have been invested in infrastructure expansion to maintain the site's competitiveness among the North Range ports.
