Universum® Bremen is an interactive science center that opened in September 2000 near the University of Bremen. Its striking building, often compared to a whale or a mussel, is clad in over 40,000 shimmering stainless steel shingles and is considered an architectural landmark of the city. Across an exhibition area of approximately 4,000 square meters, visitors are introduced to complex scientific topics within three thematic areas: Technology, Humans, and Nature. More than 300 interactive exhibits invite guests to conduct their own experiments and grasp natural phenomena through haptic engagement. In 2007, the center was expanded with the cubic SchauBox building and an outdoor area called EntdeckerPark. The museum's educational concept focuses on playful learning and discovery for all ages, emphasizing personal experience. Each year, several hundred thousand people visit the facility, which is of great importance both for academic education and for the modern cultural identity of Bremen.
