Pfrundhaus Eschen (Liechtenstein)

Weather…

The Pfrundhaus in Eschen is one of the most historically significant secular buildings in the Unterland region of Liechtenstein. Originally mentioned in the 14th century, the building served for centuries as a residence for the local priest. The current structure largely dates back to a reconstruction in 1772, executed in the Baroque style with a distinctive mansard roof. After a varied history as a schoolhouse and a home for the poor, the building was extensively renovated in the 1970s, saving it from decay. Today, the Pfrundhaus houses cultural facilities and serves as a community meeting place for the municipality of Eschen. The architecture is characterized by symmetrical rows of windows and massive masonry, giving the house a grand, dignified appearance. It is an excellent example of 18th-century rural administrative and residential architecture in the region and is a protected historical monument.
