Nendeln is a major district of the municipality of Eschen in the Liechtenstein Unterland, with a history stretching back to Roman times. The discovery of a Roman villa in Nendeln testifies to the early settlement and its strategic location along the historical trade route between Milan and Bregenz. In the 19th century, Nendeln developed into a center for craftsmanship, notably through the founding of the Schädler ceramics workshop in 1836, which remains internationally renowned today.
