Bangserfeld is an ecologically valuable area at the tripoint of Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland, renowned primarily for its extensive moorland landscapes. It is situated in the Rhine plain northwest of Schellenberg and Ruggell and is part of a cross-border nature conservation project. The landscape is characterized by wet meadows that harbor rare plant species such as the Siberian iris. Historically, Bangserfeld was used as litter meadows, where the yield served as bedding for livestock, representing a traditional form of land management in the Alpine Rhine Valley. The area functions as a vital sanctuary for endangered bird species and insects, particularly the Eurasian curlew. In the spring months, the field transforms into a sea of blue blossoms, attracting nature photographers and hikers. Despite its seclusion, Bangserfeld is accessible via well-developed field paths that allow for gentle tourism. Preserving this biodiversity is a central task for Liechtenstein's environmental authorities in cooperation with their Vorarlberg neighbors.
