Weather…

Meissen is a city in the Saxon Elbe Valley with a history spanning over 1,100 years, often referred to as the 'Cradle of Saxony.' Founded in 929 by King Henry I as a border fortress, it quickly evolved into a significant ecclesiastical and political center. The cityscape is dominated by the imposing Albrechtsburg Castle and Meissen Cathedral, which sit majestically upon the castle hill. Albrechtsburg is regarded as the first palace building in German architectural history and served as the initial production site for the world-famous Meissen Porcelain Manufactory starting in 1710. This manufactory was established by Augustus the Strong after Johann Friedrich Böttger invented European hard-paste porcelain. Today, Meissen is a major tourist destination, attracting visitors to its historic old town with winding alleys and the demonstration workshops of porcelain production. Additionally, the city is the center of Saxon viticulture, with the surrounding steep slopes along the Elbe famous for their premium white wines.
