Imperial Palace Goslar (Germany)

Weather…

The Imperial Palace in Goslar is a unique monument of secular architecture and served as one of the most important residences for German emperors between 1040 and 1050 under Henry III. The monumental palace building is considered the largest and best-preserved secular structure from the 11th century in Germany. For over two centuries, European history was shaped here during numerous Imperial Diets. Particularly impressive is the two-story Imperial Hall on the upper floor, whose walls were decorated in the late 19th century with large-scale murals depicting scenes from German history. Together with Goslar's old town and the Rammelsberg mine, the site is a UNESCO World Heritage monument. In the associated St. Ulrich's Chapel, the heart of Henry III rests in a sarcophagus, while his body is interred in Speyer Cathedral.
