Garbsen, located directly on the outskirts of Hanover, has developed from a cluster of small villages into a modern and green city. A centerpiece of leisure activities is Lake Berenbostel, which attracts locals and visitors alike with its extensive parklands, swimming areas, and hiking trails. Here, one can easily forget the hustle and bustle of everyday life, whether grilling on the shore or playing a round of miniature golf. Another prominent feature is the Mechanical Engineering Campus of Leibniz University Hannover, which makes Garbsen an important scientific location and provides a young, international flair. The city's architecture is diverse, ranging from historic churches in the old village centers to modern urban planning from the second half of the 20th century. Nature lovers also appreciate the Leineaue, a valuable nature reserve that invites visitors for observation walks. The excellent transport connections to the state capital make Garbsen a convenient starting point for exploring the entire region, while the city itself gives a wide range of cultural activities and numerous sporting opportunities.
