Wildpark Schwarze Berge (Germany)

Weather…

Wildpark Schwarze Berge is located in Rosengarten, Lower Saxony, near the southern border of Hamburg, spanning a hilly forest area of about 50 hectares. Since its opening in 1969, the park has specialized in native European and Nordic wildlife, currently housing around 1,000 animals in spacious enclosures. Residents include wolves, lynxes, brown bears, as well as various species of deer and birds of prey. A prominent feature of the park is the 45-meter-high Elbe-Blick observation tower, which provides a wide view reaching as far as Hamburg and across the Elbe valley. In addition to animal observation, the facility emphasizes environmental education, offering daily flight demonstrations and public feedings. The natural topography, consisting of hills, valleys, and lakes, shapes the appearance of the site and provides the animals with a near-natural habitat. The park is privately operated and remains open to visitors throughout the year.

The best months to visit are April through October when the animals are most active and the flight shows run regularly. Spring and autumn offer pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds, while summer provides longer daylight hours for exploration.
🌅
Best time of day
Plan your visit for early morning or late afternoon when wildlife is most active and the park is quieter. Flight shows are typically scheduled around midday, so check the daily program upon arrival for specific times.
📜
Etiquette
Always stay on the marked trails and never feed any animals, as human food can harm them. Maintain a respectful distance from all enclosures and follow the park's behavior guidelines posted at entrances.
🎒
What to bring
Bring a quality pair of binoculars to get a closer look at animals in the spacious enclosures and from the observation tower. Wear sturdy walking shoes and dress in layers, as the weather in the Harburg Hills can change quickly.
