The Laberinto de Albania, located at Finca Albania in Apaneca, is the largest hedge maze in El Salvador and one of the most significant in Central America. It was constructed using over 2,000 cypress trees, carefully planted and maintained to form a complex network of paths spanning more than 5,000 square meters. Since its opening to the public in 2017, it has become one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Ruta de las Flores region. The maze is not only a site for entertainment but also showcases the agricultural versatility of the region, which is traditionally known for coffee cultivation. The design of the maze requires continuous horticultural work to maintain the shape of the walls and the health of the trees in the cool, high-altitude climate of Apaneca. Visitors typically take between 15 and 40 minutes to reach the center, where an observation platform provides a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and the maze structure itself.
