Speyside is situated on the northeastern coast of Tobago and is renowned as one of the Caribbean's premier diving destinations. The village has a historical background rooted in the sugar industry, with several ruins of old mills still visible in the lush surrounding hills. Geographically, it overlooks Tyrrel's Bay and provides a gateway to the nearby offshore islands of Little Tobago and Goat Island. These islands serve as critical bird sanctuaries, hosting rare species such as the Red-billed Tropicbird. The marine environment around Speyside is famous for the Angel Reef and contains some of the world's largest brain coral formations along with frequent manta ray sightings. Modern Speyside remains a quiet community where the economy is driven by sustainable ecotourism and traditional fishing practices.
