Scarborough Port
Scarborough Port is the most important maritime hub on the island of Tobago and forms the economic center of the island's capital. It serves as the primary arrival point for high-speed ferries from Port of Spain, which is essential for maintaining the connection between the nation's two islands. The port underwent significant expansion in the late 1980s to accommodate larger vessels and a higher volume of passengers. Today, Scarborough features a modern cruise ship terminal that brings thousands of tourists to the island during the winter season. In addition to passenger traffic, the port handles essential goods and food supplies for the local population. The port facility is deep enough for medium-sized cruise ships and has a scenic view of the historical Fort King George, which towers over the bay. Management of the port is conducted by the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, ensuring the smooth operation of daily ferry and commercial traffic.
