Argyle Waterfall
Argyle Waterfall, standing at a total height of 54 meters (175 feet), is the highest waterfall on the island of Tobago, located near the town of Roxborough. The falls consist of three distinct tiers that cascade down the lush, verdant slopes of the Northern Range. The approach to the waterfall follows a well-maintained trail through tropical forest, offering glimpses of native flora and diverse birdlife. The lowest tier features a deep natural pool, first-rate for swimming and relaxing in the cool mountain water. More adventurous visitors can hike up steep paths to reach the upper tiers, which offer sweeping views of the surrounding rainforest canopy. The site is managed by the local Roxborough community, ensuring conservation efforts and supporting local employment. Historically, the surrounding area was part of the Argyle sugar estate, and ruins of the old mill can still be seen nearby. The waterfall is most impressive following the rainy season when the water volume is at its peak. It remains a signature landmark for nature enthusiasts visiting Tobago.
