Casa Ayora
Casa Ayora is one of the most beautiful examples of neoclassical residential architecture in Panama City's Casco Antiguo. Built in the late 19th century, it reflects the era when Panama was part of Colombia and was experiencing an economic boom due to the first attempts at building a canal. The house features elegant balconies, a grand central courtyard, and intricate decorative details that were typical of the wealthy families of the period. Casa Ayora has been meticulously restored and currently serves as a government office and a venue for cultural events. It stands as a symbol of the architectural transition from the simple colonial style to the more ornate and European-influenced designs of the Victorian era. The building is a key part of the revitalized Casco Antiguo streetscape.
