Located just a few kilometers northwest of Hamburg, Pinneberg is recognized as the green heart of the world's largest contiguous tree nursery region. This deep-rooted connection to plant cultivation continues to shape the cityscape and its surroundings, making the Pinneberg tree nursery district an absolute delight for gardening enthusiasts. At the center of the town stands the historic Drostei, a magnificent 18th-century Baroque building that serves as the district's most significant architectural landmark. Today, it operates as an animated cultural hub, hosting art exhibitions and classical concerts. Right next door, the Drosteipark invites visitors to take relaxing strolls under old trees. Nature lovers are drawn to the banks of the Pinnau, a tributary of the Elbe River, where idyllic cycling and hiking trails wind through expansive meadow landscapes. Those looking for traditional Northern German coziness will find numerous small boutiques and welcoming cafes in the pedestrian zone. In the summer, events like the traditional wine festival attract crowds from the entire region. Pinneberg perfectly balances close-to-nature recreation, fascinating horticultural history, and proximity to Hamburg.
