Nymphenburg Palace in Munich is one of Europe's largest and most magnificent Baroque palace complexes, serving for centuries as the summer residence of the Bavarian rulers from the House of Wittelsbach. Construction began in 1664 as a gift from Elector Ferdinand Maria to his wife, Henriette Adelaide. The main palace features an impressive facade width of 632 meters and is surrounded by a 200-hectare park in the English landscape style. Inside, visitors can find significant sights such as the Steinerner Saal (Stone Hall) and King Ludwig I's famous Gallery of Beauties. The palace grounds also host several smaller pavilions, including the Badenburg and the Amalienburg, a masterpiece of Rococo architecture. The palace is the birthplace of King Ludwig II, the later 'Fairytale King.' Today, the complex houses various museums, including the Marstallmuseum with its historic state coaches. The site's canal system is still fed by the Würm river, defining the unique garden architecture.
