Deutsches Museum Munich
The Deutsches Museum in Munich, officially known as the German Museum of Masterpieces of Science and Technology, is the world's largest museum of science and technology. Founded on June 28, 1903, on the initiative of Oskar von Miller, it is primarily located on the Museum Island in the Isar River. The museum houses an impressive collection of approximately 28,000 objects across more than 50 specialized fields, documenting the historical development of science and technology. Among the most significant exhibits are the Wright brothers' first motorized aircraft, the first diesel car, and Konrad Zuse's Z3, the world's first programmable computer. A unique feature of the museum is its focus on hands-on learning, allowing visitors to conduct many experiments themselves. In addition to the exhibition halls on the Isar Island, the museum operates branches such as the Flugwerft Schleißheim and the Transport Center at Theresienhöhe. As a research and educational institution, the Deutsches Museum makes a vital contribution to the dissemination of technical culture and scientific knowledge in Europe.
