San Antonio de los Baños, known as the 'Capital of Humor,' is a pleasant city in the province of Artemisa, located about 35 kilometers southwest of Havana. Founded in 1794 on the banks of the Ariguanabo River, the city is world-renowned for its Humor Biennial, which attracts international cartoonists and artists. The Museum of Humor, the first of its kind in Cuba, houses an extensive collection of political and social caricatures from the 19th century to the present day. In addition to its cultural significance, the city is home to the Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV (EICTV), one of the world's most prestigious film schools, co-founded by Gabriel García Márquez. The surrounding landscape is characterized by fertile soils where tobacco and citrus fruits are grown, providing the city with a strong agricultural base. The city's architecture shows a mix of colonial influences and modern elements, with the central park and surrounding arcades defining social life. San Antonio de los Baños is also an important center for Cuban 'Décima' poetry and folk music.
