Weather…

The Cienfuegos Botanical Garden, officially known as Jardín Botánico de Cienfuegos, is the oldest and one of the most significant botanical gardens in Cuba. It was established in 1901 by Edwin F. Atkins, an American sugar tycoon, originally as a research station for sugarcane varieties. Today, the grounds span approximately 97 hectares and house an impressive collection of over 2,000 plant species. The garden is particularly renowned for its extensive palm collection, featuring more than 280 species, making it one of the most complete tropical palm collections in the world. In addition to palms, it contains significant stands of bamboo, Ficus species, and tropical timber trees used for scientific study. The institution plays a crucial role in conserving Caribbean flora and researching tropical ecosystems under controlled botanical conditions.
