Weather…

Mount Edith Cavell is one of the most prominent peaks in Jasper National Park, Alberta, reaching an elevation of 3,363 meters. The mountain was named in 1916 after Edith Cavell, a British nurse executed during World War I for helping Allied soldiers escape. The north face of the mountain is particularly striking, hosting the Angel Glacier, which is named for its distinctive shape resembling an angel with outstretched wings. At the base of the mountain lies Cavell Pond, where small icebergs often float, having calved from the glacier above. Geologically, the mountain is composed of Precambrian quartzite, making it highly resistant to erosion over millennia. Hiking trails in the area, such as the Path of the Glacier, provide spectacular views of the high alpine landscapes of the Canadian Rockies. Due to its ecological significance and fragile alpine vegetation, access to certain areas is strictly managed to ensure environmental preservation.
