Preysal is internationally renowned for its contribution to cricket; the Preysal Cricket Club has produced a significant number of world-class players for the West Indies national team. The village's growth was heavily influenced by its proximity to the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and the urban center of Couva, leading to rapid expansion over the last few decades.
