The Turda Salt Mine (Salina Turda) in Transylvania is one of the oldest and most impressive salt mines in the world, with history reaching back to ancient times. Salt extraction was documented as early as 1075, and it grew significantly during the Austro-Hungarian period when massive underground chambers were excavated. Industrial mining ceased in 1932, and the site was reopened as a tourist attraction in 1992. Following a major renovation in 2010, the mine was transformed into a subterranean theme park located 120 meters underground. The Rudolf Mine features a Ferris wheel, bowling alleys, and a mini-golf course, while the Terezia Mine contains an impressive underground lake with a salt island where visitors can rent rowboats. The mine's unique microclimate, with a constant temperature of 10-12°C and high humidity, is renowned for its respiratory healing properties, attracting thousands of visitors for halotherapy.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun–Aug.

Located not far from the famous Salina Turda, the Baile Sarate Turda lido is an excellent place to relax. The facility captivates with a calm atmosphere that fits well with the restful character of the region. After a walk, the complex invites you to come to rest while sunbathing. This outdoor pool can be wonderfully combined with a visit to the nearby salt mine.
