Câmpia Turzii is a significant industrial and urban center in Cluj County, situated in the historical region of Transylvania along the Arieș River. The city's development is inextricably linked to the establishment of the 'Industria Sârmei' metallurgical plant in 1920, which transformed a collection of small villages into a booming industrial hub. For decades, the metallurgy sector, particularly wire and nail production, remained the backbone of the local economy and defined the town's social fabric. Beyond its industrial heritage, the city is home to the 71st Air Base of the Romanian Air Force, making it a strategic military location in Eastern Europe. Visitors can explore the Reformed Church, which dates back to the late 17th century, or enjoy the recreational areas along the Arieș riverbank. Its proximity to Turda and the Turda Gorge makes it a practical starting point for exploring the natural and historical landmarks of the western Transylvanian plateau.
