Someșul Mic River (Romania)

Weather…

The Someșul Mic is a major river in Transylvania, formed by the confluence of the Someșul Rece and Someșul Cald at the Gilău reservoir. It is the lifeblood of Cluj-Napoca, flowing through the heart of the city and providing its residents with both water and beautiful riverside recreational spaces. The river's valley has been a central axis of settlement and culture since ancient times, witnessing the growth of one of Romania's most important academic and economic centers. Beyond the city, the Someșul Mic flows through the fertile Transylvanian Plain before joining the Someșul Mare at Dej. The river is regulated by several dams that provide electricity and prevent flooding, while its banks in Cluj-Napoca are currently undergoing extensive ecological and urban revitalization to become the city's main green corridor.
