Charlottenburg Palace (Germany)

Weather…

Charlottenburg Palace is the largest and most significant palace complex in Berlin, having served as a residence for the former Electors of Brandenburg and Kings of Prussia. Construction began in 1695 as a summer retreat for Sophie Charlotte of Hanover and was expanded throughout the 18th century by prominent architects such as Eosander von Göthe and Georg Wenzeslaus von Knobelsdorff. The main building is characterized by its striking dome and opulent Baroque style, while the New Wing reflects the elegance of the Rococo period. The expansive palace gardens combine a French Baroque garden with an English landscape park, housing the Mausoleum, the Belvedere, and the New Pavilion. Following severe damage during World War II, the palace was meticulously reconstructed and now serves as a museum showcasing valuable art collections and historic royal apartments. It remains a central monument of Prussian court culture and one of the most visited historical sites in the German capital.
