Berlin Museum Island (Germany)

Weather…

Museum Island in Berlin is a globally unique ensemble of five world-renowned museums, located on the northern tip of Spree Island in the city's historic center. Built between 1824 and 1930 based on designs by famous architects such as Karl Friedrich Schinkel and Friedrich August Stüler, the complex includes the Altes Museum, the Neues Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie, the Bode Museum, and the Pergamon Museum. Since 1999, Museum Island has been a UNESCO World Heritage site, exemplifying the development of modern museum architecture over the span of a century. Its collections house treasures from six thousand years of human history, including the world-famous bust of Nefertiti and the Pergamon Altar. Following German reunification, a master plan was launched to restore and physically link the museums via the Archaeological Promenade. With the opening of the James Simon Gallery in 2019, the ensemble gained a modern entrance building and a central access point for visitors.
