Silk Grass is a dynamic village in the Stann Creek District, located approximately 10 kilometers north of Dangriga along the Hummingbird Highway. Situated in the foothills of the Maya Mountains, the settlement is characterized by exceptional biodiversity. In recent history, Silk Grass has transformed into a pioneer of sustainable development in Belize. The founding of Silk Grass Farms in 2019, a large-scale regenerative agribusiness, has economically revitalized the area. Geographically, the territory includes the Silk Grass Nature Reserve, which serves as a critical wildlife corridor bridging the Cockscomb Basin and Bocawina National Park. The residents, primarily Mestizo, benefit from modern jobs in food processing powered by one of the country's largest solar arrays. Culturally, the village is deeply connected to nature, reflected in numerous conservation initiatives. The population has grown rapidly in recent years, exceeding 2,600 inhabitants according to the 2022 census, highlighting the region's economic appeal.
