Santa Clara is a rural village located in the Corozal District of northern Belize, situated in one of the country's most productive agricultural regions. The community is positioned directly on the main highway connecting Orange Walk Town and Corozal Town, giving it excellent logistical connectivity. Historically, the settlement is closely linked to the boom of the Belizean sugar industry, as the surrounding lands have been used almost exclusively for sugarcane cultivation for decades. Today, Santa Clara is home to about 900 residents, most of whom are of Mestizo descent, and whose daily lives are defined by the intensive labor on the sugarcane fields. Geographically, the village lies in a flat plain characterized by vast sugarcane plantations and small patches of forest. The neighboring community of San Roman is so close that both locations are often perceived as a single functional unit. Despite its agricultural focus, the village possesses basic social facilities such as a primary school and small commercial shops. Culturally, traditional Mexican-Belizean customs are maintained, especially during the harvest season when the village's social life is at its peak. Steady infrastructure development has improved access to higher education institutions in the nearby urban centers.
