Liberty Galați Steelworks (Romania)

Weather…

The Liberty Galați steelworks, historically known as Sidex, is Romania's largest integrated steel producer and an industrial asset of strategic importance for southeastern Europe. Located on the Danube, the plant benefits from direct river transport, which facilitates raw-material imports and finished-goods exports. Liberty Galați produces a wide range of flat products, including heavy plate for shipbuilding, hot-rolled coils and galvanized products. Under Liberty Steel management, the steelworks launched the GREENSTEEL program, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2030 through electric arc furnaces and the use of renewable energy. With an annual production capacity of more than 2 million tonnes of steel, Galați remains the heart of Romanian metallurgy, supporting thousands of jobs and numerous related industries.
