Galați TV Tower (Romania)

Weather…

The Galați TV Tower is a prominent landmark and a significant example of 1970s Romanian engineering. Built between 1977 and 1978, the tower stands at a total height of 110 meters (with some sources citing up to 150 meters including the antenna). The structure consists of a massive concrete shaft topped by a circular pod that houses broadcasting equipment and formerly a revolving restaurant. Located at an altitude of approximately 90 meters, the restaurant once offered a 360-degree panoramic view of the Danube River, the city of Galați, and the distant Măcin Mountains. It was the first facility of its kind in Romania to combine telecommunications with high-altitude dining. Beyond its function as a transmitter for television and radio signals, the tower is a symbol of the city's late 20th-century modernization. Although public access has been limited in recent years, it remains a dominant feature of the Galați skyline and a key navigational point for residents and tourists alike.
