Best season
Bucharest Zoo is open all year, but the best time to visit is spring and autumn with mild temperatures. In summer animals are more active in shady enclosures, in winter many can be seen indoors in heated exhibits.
Best time of day
Morning and late afternoon feeding times are highly recommended to see the animals active. On hot days, make use of the morning hours, as most animals rest during the midday heat.
Etiquette
Feeding animals is prohibited throughout the zoo - many species have special diets. Please keep to the paths and do not climb over barriers.
What to bring
Comfortable shoes are important as the zoo is large and covers a lot of ground. Binoculars can be useful to get a better view of animals in large enclosures.
Getting there
Bucharest Zoo is located in the Băneasa Forest in the north of the city and is accessible by bus or car. Parking is available at the entrance; the 'Băneasa Zoo' bus stop serves several lines.
What to expect
On weekends the zoo can be very busy - visit on weekdays for a calmer atmosphere. Not all animals are visible at all times, a second round often pays off, especially if you are looking for rare species.
