A standout interior feature is the presence of ten enormous wooden pillars, each carved from a single whole tree trunk, which support the heavy tiled roof. Its facade is intentionally unadorned, reflecting the church's functional role as a sanctuary for the local community during the 18th century. In 1974, the building was officially declared a National Monument to ensure the preservation of its deep historical roots. Today, it remains a focal point for local traditions, where indigenous customs often blend with Catholic festivities.
