Mahkama du Pacha (Morocco)

Weather…

The Mahkama du Pacha in Casablanca is an impressive building complex that served as a courthouse and residence for the Pasha. Built between 1941 and 1952 during the French mandate, it is an outstanding example of the Moorish Revival style. The building is characterized by its exceptional craftsmanship, employing traditional techniques such as zellige mosaics, intricate plasterwork, and hand-carved cedar wood ceilings. The complex features more than 60 rooms and several magnificent courtyards reminiscent of the architecture of the Alhambra in Granada. It was originally constructed on the site of a former military hospital to accommodate the city's growing administration. Today, it functions as the headquarters for the Prefecture of the Mechouar district and continues to house judicial institutions. The Mahkama du Pacha is considered one of Casablanca's hidden architectural gems, reflecting the elegance of 20th-century Moroccan artistry.
