Firefly Estate (Jamaica)

Weather…

Firefly Estate, perched on a steep hill in St. Mary, was the beloved Jamaican home of the legendary British playwright, composer, and actor Sir Noël Coward. Named for the clouds of fireflies that illuminate the gardens at dusk, the estate features what is often called the most spectacular view in the Caribbean, overlooking Port Maria and the distant Blue Mountains. Coward sought solitude and inspiration here, hosting a parade of world-famous guests including Queen Elizabeth II, Winston Churchill, and Sophia Loren. The house has been preserved exactly as it was when Coward died in 1973, with his pianos, paintings, and personal library still in place. The site also has a colorful past as a lookout for the pirate Henry Morgan. Sir Noël Coward is buried on the grounds in a simple grave with an eternal view of the ocean, making Firefly a serene sanctuary of culture and history.
