Parád is a historic municipality set in the Mátra Mountains of Heves County, renowned for its diverse mineral springs and the preservation of Palóc folk traditions. The settlement is divided into several districts, with Parádfürdő rising to prominence in the 19th century as a prestigious spa resort under the ownership of the aristocratic Károlyi family. One of its most significant architectural landmarks is the Cifra Stable, constructed in 1880 according to the designs of the famous architect Miklós Ybl in an eclectic style. This grand building now houses a Carriage Museum, showcasing the internationally acclaimed history of Hungarian coach-building and equestrian culture. The region is famous for its naturally carbonated sulfurous mineral waters, locally called „csevice”, which have been used for centuries to treat digestive and respiratory ailments. Parád also serves as a primary gateway for hikers exploring the volcanic ridges leading to Kékes, the highest peak in Hungary.
